Clear Drainage – Cleaner Homes

Our home is perhaps one of our most precious possessions. But is it enough to boast of a beautifully decorated interior? Think again! The external look of our dwelling place appeals visually but what’s going on underneath the foundation is often much more important. The drainage system of any abode needs equal attention in order to provide sustainability and safety.

Drainage is the natural or artificial removal of surface and sub-surface water from an area.

A smart drainage solution is mandatory to dissipate surplus water both in farming lands and in residential areas. Untreated excess water abets the chances of erosion of the foundation, making the structure of your home unstable. On the other hand agricultural soil needs drainage to enhance production or to manage water supplies.

An underground drainage system comprises of pipes and storage tanks made from perforated wall modules to form the desired size and configuration. They are wrapped in a water permeable geotextile. The system is preferably buried in clean sand, whereby rainwater and runoff water is directed to flow through the water permeable geotextile.

Drainage can be either natural or artificial. Many areas have some natural drainage which means that excess water flows from the farmers’ fields to swamps or to lakes and rivers. Natural drainage, however, is often inadequate and artificial or man-made drainage is required.

Types of artificial drainage:

Surface drainage is the process of removal of excess water from the surface of the land. This is normally accomplished by shallow ditches which are also called open drains. The shallow ditches discharge into larger and deeper collector drains. In order to facilitate the flow of excess water towards the drains, the field is given an artificial slope by means of land grading.

Subsurface drainage is the removal of water from the root zone. It is accomplished by deep open drains or buried pipe drains. Excess water from the root zone flows into the deep open drains. The disadvantage of this type of subsurface drainage is that it makes the use of machinery difficult. Pipe drains are buried pipes with openings through which the soil water can enter. The pipes convey the water to a collector drain.

Drainage system that lies beneath your home works hard at all time to keep your abode prim and proper. Not only does it have to process water waste that is created by bathing and washing dishes, but it also handles sewage waste and outside water that is draining off your home. This is a tough set of responsibilities for the residential underground drainage system to handle so you might want to think proactively about keeping this system in working order.

The Marley Plumbing & Drainage supply high quality pipes and fittings and other drainage products including drain, sewer, perforated, cable duct systems for underground drainage systems. Contact us on 1622 858888.

Today’s advanced skin wound care systems include an array of amorphous hydrogel products.  Treatment with amorphous hydrogel is gaining wide acceptance in the medical community as an effective wound care treatment for exuding skin wounds.  This type of wound care treatment creates an ideal healing environment and can significantly speed healing of even persistent wounds.

Amorphous hydrogel is a topical application for exuding (weeping/oozing) skin wounds. There are two major advantages to using an amorphous hydrogel for skin wound care:

1) Ease of treatment of deeper or uneven wounds: Lacerations and scrapes can be particularly difficult to treat. These wounds are often uneven: borders can be irregular, and the wound as a whole may be deeper and more jagged in some spots, shallower and smoother in others.  A topical dressing alone may not sufficiently or evenly reach all portions of the wound.  Amorphous hydrogel is a gel solution that is applied directly to the wound.  The gel has the ability to seep down into all parts of the wound, including the deeper, rougher parts.  This ensures even coverage of the entire skin wound.

2) Creating a moist environment: Moisture is particularly important for the proper healing of exuding wounds.  Amorphous hydrogel creates and maintains a moist environment that promotes healing.

Its effectiveness can further be enhanced when combining amorphous hydrogel with a hydrocolloid dressing.  Hydrocolloid dressings, such as DuoDerm extra thin, Convatec Aquacel and others contain gel-forming agents, typically composed of sodium carboxymethylcellulose and gelatin.  This substance is highly liquid-retentive and will absorb about four times more exudate than gauze. Skin wound care dressings such as these can be worn considerably longer than gauze dressings.

Wound care products like Convatec Aquacel have the added advantage of containing ionic silver.  Ionic silver has powerful antimicrobial properties.  The inclusion of it in the Convatec Aquacel wound care dressing does not affect the ability of the hydrocolloid to absorb liquid.  It also helps to kill bacteria and other microbes that may come into contact with the wound area and protect the wound, reducing the risk of infection.

Amorphous hydrogel can be used with many skin wound care dressings.  Combining it with a hydrocolloid dressing essentially creates two barriers of protection for a wound instead of just one, further reducing the risk of contamination and/or infection.

Products such as DuoDerm extra thin do more than add that extra layer of protection.  DuoDerm extra thin is thinner than many other skin wound dressings.  This makes it ideal for use on areas of the body that are awkward to dress (i.e. the under-arm area, backs of the knees) and may be subject to a great deal of movement and flexing.

When using any skin wound care dressing, make sure it’s compatible with amorphous hydrogel.  The product label should clearly indicate its suitability for use with such a product.  It’s also important to apply the amorphous hydrogel as indicated, and to strictly follow the protocol for applying and removing it and the dressing, as well as the proper schedule for changing the dressings in order to maximize their abilities to heal.

Goddess Looking Wedding Dress

How would you like to have a dress, which is light, like a dream and gentle as a peony petal? In this case, silk chiffon is the right material for a bridal dress. Soft chiffon is currently the “so in” style. It is also considered one of the trendier fashions. Softly draped, it looks both formal and lovely. Ladies can now herald the arrival of summer with a float chiffon wedding dress!

Get something really feminine and elegant. Get inspired by classic movie, “My Fair lady”, starring style icon Audrey Hepburn. There are so many brilliant things to borrow from the award winning costume designs found in the movie. As you remember, costume details such as chic over sized bows, lines -with contrasts of black and white have come back again. It is a modern trend in wedding fashion! Silk chiffon floral accents, amazing drapes, wing details, perfect fitting, elongated shapes, feminine, stylish and fresh, as spring.

Flowers are all great ways to describe a dream summer wedding dress. The costume designer of this movie was Cecil Beaton, who developed his sophisticated taste in the highly artistic environment of the 1930s. This was a time when Coco Chanel declared that fashion should be both luxurious and expensive simplicity, ushering in a new era. It`s interesting how elegance from the past has easy access to our hearts today.

You can get more inspiration from the early summer blooms for your bridal style. They can present you a chic idea to organize a wedding. For example, it can be in a pale rose palette of spring-early summer flowers. You can continue with a floral peony theme, a symbol of a happy marriage and harmonic relationship. It could also be a nice scenario: pale rose invitations with a pattern of petals of peony flowers; watercolors or silk painting, chick and handmade. Centerpieces can also be arranged with a fresh and fragrant summer mixture of flowers with peonies as the main flower in the composition. A bride’s bouquet of perfect colors, pale pink peony enchants and warms up the feminine part of the bride.

Unknown to many, unprocessed, or natural foods already contain sodium chloride sufficient enough for our body’s needs, hence, obtaining salt through natural food is not a problem. It is with the intake of processed foods that our body gets to encounter sodium chloride content that causes high blood pressure problems.

Returning to natural diets is one of the effective solutions in treating or preventing high blood pressure attacks. Accordingly, natural foods would mean anything derived from natural food sources grown from the soil, from trees, or derived from animals without need to add sauces or coatings.

In purchasing food supplies from supermarkets, reading the labels of low-sodium foods can help us determine the processed foods to avoid. An example would be a low-sodium salad dressing that contains 2 milligrams (mg) of sodium and 32 mg of potassium.

If this were to be analyzed further regarding the balance of sodium to potassium content, or in determining its K-factor, the resulting proportion would be 1 mg of salt for every 16 mg of potassium. The prescribed ideal K-factor ratio is 1 mg salt for every 3 mg potassium.

Experts suggest that rather than buy foods with potassium chloride, check the labels for other substitutes like potassium gluconate and potassium bitartrate. Better yet, you can opt for natural or unprocessed foods and use salt substitutes like seasonings from spices and herbs.

Here are some of the processed foods to avoid and why they should be avoided:

1. Cooked cereals with added salt content.

2. Ready-to-eat cereals may have some moderation in sodium but are low in potassium content, hence, the addition of milk, increases the sodium level resulting to further disparity between their ratio. Occasionally, this type of food can be a part of a hypertension sufferer’s diet but other low sodium, high potassium foods should be eaten in order to compensate.

3. Juice drinks that have minimal content as far real juice is concerned. Check the label for artificial flavors and colors as well as its sugary ingredients.

4. Processed meats use high proportions of salt in their preparation. Specifically, avoid processed beef foods like corned beef, beef burgundy, breakfast strips, frozen meatloaf, and frozen or canned sliced beef, Salisbury steak and chipped beef.

Processed pork to avoid includes cured bacon and ham, bacon bits, ham loaf, bacon bits, sweet and sour pork, ham steaks and sausages. Special preparations like frozen veal parmigiana should also be avoided. You should also consider excluding spreads, luncheon meats, franks, bologna, corned beef loaf, barbecue loaf, salami, mortadella, sandwich spreads, Vienna sausage and turkey ham.

5. Seafood are too high in sodium content although some may be eaten occasionally and with caution. Processed seafood however are best avoided since their preparation uses additional salt for processing.

Examples of these processed seafood are deviled crab, crab cakes, crab imperial, canned crab, fish fillets, fillet almondine, fish sticks, canned fish, lobster paste, Newburg lobster, oysters, mussels, clams, sardines and shrimps whether breaded or French fried.

6. Canned soups are definitely processed foods to avoid since most of them contain more than one gram of sodium chloride and less than the desirable level of potassium content. Do not be misled by such information as “no salt content” or “homemade”; such information does not relieve them of their high level of sodium ingredient.

7. Food flavorings with salt. Contain mostly salt blended with other ingredients.

As part of dietary measures that can prevent high blood pressure, it is recommended that the hypertension sufferer’s diet should take into consideration these processed foods to avoid.
